Wry vs. Dry

Yap began his performing career with a summer job at California’s Great America as a costume character. Simultaneously, Yap signed up for his first improv class at Ohlone College and has since taken a multitude of classes at ComedySportz and Made Up Theatre, and workshops and intensives at Improv Utopia and The Annoyance. Over the course of 9 seasons at CGA, he performed in various shows and has been a monkey, Gingerbread Man and a French Candy General at the amusement park. Yap is now a proud cast member of Made Up Theatre and ComedySportz San Jose, and a troupe member of Worlds Collide, Bottle Episode, and Improv Circus!

Dylan is a comedian, educator, and musician in the Bay Area. His offbeat sense of humor can be seen in his improv, standup and often absurd sketches. And while he now spends his days producing and coaching, his past is marked by a stint as a tsunami hunter – a job that was as unpredictable as his shows.

Mary Matabor got her improv start with Pan Theater’s Awkward Face and has dabbled with an array of troupes and side projects ever since. She has not yet quit improv, it’s just been lazily on her to-do list. Chick Flick, which she co-founded, is a true love so that makes it hard. She also likes Puppet Party pretty good. Ms. Matabor has mc'd and performed with troupes Ragged Wing, Wondertown and Puppette Party, among others, at assorted festivals for the snacks, and is formerly of the main stage troupe at All Out Comedy Theater. She contains a deep and abiding desire not to engage with people, which she undermines monthly by inventing entire relationships — marriages, rivalries, decades of unresolved tension — with strangers, from scratch, on a spotlit stage. She will vacate the theater immediately after the show ends.

Tom Dunlap is a stand-up, improviser, sketch performer, improv coach, and former Swedish professional baseball player. He's been performing since 2007, performing stand-up all over the country, with appearances on Sirius Satellite Radio, New York 1 TV, The Boston Chronicle, The Comedy Studio's Comic-in-Residence Program, the Women in Comedy Festival, Chicago Sketchfest, the Rochester Comedy Festival, and the Hoboken Comedy Festival. He co-created Grandma's Basement, a four-night-a-week comedy venue behind Fenway Park that was voted Boston's Best Alternative Comedy Showcase and Best Open Mic.

Tom is currently thrilled to have played with many Bay Area improv teams, including Improv Circus, After Bedtime Stories, No Brakes, A Lot To Unpack, House Party, and Cattywampus! Before landing in the Bay Area, Tom performed on Wonderland — the Magnet Theater's longest-running musical house team — and sketch team Baby Shoes which performed in multiple festivals, and many indy teams in NYC. Tom was trained as an improv instructor by Armando Diaz, has coached narrative musical house teams, long-form improv teams, and studied under Will Hines, Jordan Klepper, Craig Cackowski, Tara Copeland, Neil Casey, Rick Andrews, Peter McNerney, Amy Goerlich, Michael Lutton, and many more.
