Da Doo Ron Ron
How to Play
“Using your one syllable names and nicknames our players will perform a song for you in the style of the 1963 Crystals classic, Da Doo Ron Ron.”
The teams line up at the front of the field, alternating the players between the teams, and the referee gets the suggestion of a one syllable name or nickname. Using the rhyme scheme of the song “Da Doo Ron Ron,” the players will make up a song. The first player will sing how they met the suggested name, followed by everyone singing “Da Doo Ron Ron Ron, Da Doo Ron Ron.” The second player will sing a line that rhymes with the name, followed by all the players singing “Da Doo Ron Ron Ron, Da Doo Ron Ron” again. All the players now sing “Da-da-da-dum, yeah” then the third player makes a rhyme. Again, all the players sing “Da-da- da-dum, yeah” and the third player will make a second rhyme. Finally, all the players sing “Da-da-da-dum, yeah” and the third player makes a third rhyme. All players sing “Da Doo Ron Ron Ron, Da Doo Ron Ron” and the pattern continues for the remaining players in the same fashion for players one through three, wrapping around back to the beginning whenever it reaches the end of the line. The referee will encourage the audience to sing along. If ever a player hesitates, falls off rhythm, repeats a rhyme, or fails to rhyme with the name, the player is out. Whenever a player leaves the field, the referee will get a new suggested name, and the whole thing starts over. This continues until only one player is left, or all the players from one team are eliminated.
